[Libva] libva and ffmpeg example

Is there any simple note/tutorial/example how to make
minimal player using ffmpeg and vaapi hardware acceleration?

What is different in using vaapi hw from regular ffmpeg decoding,
can I send video frame (decoded with vaapi) as byte buffer
to opengl - like regular ffmpeg examples do?

Is this too complicated for a beginner programer like me, as I'm
trying to learn c better and make simple open*l video player in linux?
