If you don't notice any critical issue with the v1.0-branch, then I
will tag it as 1.0.18 next week. This is a maintenance only release,
with accumulated bug fixes listed hereunder from the previous
announcement. Sorry, I did not announce 1.0.16 and 1.0.17.
