[Libva] Image size restrictions for decode

Hi!

I'm playing vaapi-mplayer using videos converted by ffmpeg/x264.

Standard HD (1920x1080) plays fine, but mplayer hangs or even crashes 
the system when playing a higher resolution, like 1920x1400. The videos 
seem to be ok, as they play using -vo x11 or -vo xv.

A 1920x1440 video shows decoding error artifacts on vaapi, which xv does 
not. 1920x2048 decodes wrongly to a somewhat uniform color picture, 
while higher resolution does not decode at all (mplayer hangs) or even 
crashes the system.

Is there a hardware or a driver restriction on a certain video size?

I've tried pentium HD and sandybridge i3 HD2000 graphics.
