[LightDM] How to change from pantheon greeter and turn off/hide all other accounts

Hello,
I am a computer technician and friend to someone who recently inherited a small laptop with ElementaryOS installed on it.
I should first warn I'm a total noob in regards to Linux but have researched enough to figure much of the command language out over the weekend.
I dread moving forward on this particular venture only because if the login greeter breaks that could be a great problem to try and overcome.

I would like to ask how in a step-by-step language I might switch from Pantheon greeter to LightDM greeter. I have found the lightdm.conf file, but am unsure if this is the only file that needs to be altered in order to make the change. Please reply at your earliest possible convenience.  #Eli5
