thank you for your reply.
I have to admit I don't know which greeter we are using. I do a standard install from epel repo, then change as little as possible.
How can I check this?

There is a small risk that LightDM (the daemon) changed behaviour, but I haven't seen other reports and there's quite extensive testing in the greeter for a behaviour change like this.
