[LightDM] user list empty

Dear all,

can someone shed some light onto the building of the user list?

In my case (using lightdm 1.26.0), the function common_user_list_get_instance() returns an empty list, which in turn causes the lightdm-gtk-greeter to fail knowing the user's home directory, which in turn prevents the user's chosen session from ~/.dmrc being read.

Under which circumstances is the user list supposed to be empty? Maybe in the case of "greeter-hide-users=true" being configured?
