Hm. I wonder how the worst case of indices referencing vertices in more
or less random order performs with this patch.

However, in my case my terrain engine, which uses indexed vertices, gets
a massive performance boost from this. I suspect fglrx 9.2 used to do
this also, since it gave similar results on the vertexrate test.
