The package (currently) expands to just a .pc file on Linux. That may
or may not be the case in the future. So for now you're free to sed it
out. IIRC Archlinux is doing the same thing ;-)

I believe that there's no interest in making the python3 script
python2 compatible while some work has been done (is ongoing ?) for
the inverse. Yes it is a bit annoying (if building from git) yet I
doubt Dylan will object if someone helps him out with the latter.
