Yes, this sample requires GL 4.3 and a compat profile.

Sure, I need to override the mesa compat profile version and the glsl 
version like:
MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=4.3COMPAT MESA_GLSL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=430

Like you I was surprising because with the above hack, glxinfo says that 
ARB_compute_shader is exposed. But actually, mesa seems to reject 
glDispatchCompute() randomly.
