I've just fired up a thread about bumping the Clover requirement to 3.9.
The reason why I brought it up is that all modern platforms actually
using Clover seems to have it available.

Hopefully we'll get brief and useful arguments for/against the topic.

That said, the patches look good and are perfectly reasonable.
