Hi all,

Looking through some distros has pointed out that some are starting to
accumulate multiple local patches.
The most prominent ones being BSDs although Linux distros also have a few.

Can we get those upstreamed ? Just add a commit message and fire it to the list.
If some of those were "shot down" previously, there should be a
reasonable alternative suggested.

You really do not want to keep to these long term in your tree. If
applicable poke upstream or the team in your distro.

On a related note:
Do try to keep your packaging recipe(s) clean - if something is broken
[our end or not] report it and add bug# reference. I've poked the
Debian/Ubuntu people in the past, but it does not sound right me
telling you how to do your role.

Surely know your distribution/packaging guidelines far better than me.

One particular example that comes to mind is the split XvMC/VDPAU
packages in OpenSuse. The packages provide the _exact_ same file(s).
Mesa-dri-nouveau is in the same boat.

If you want separate packages - be that for the DRI modules, XvMC,
VDPAU, [even nine, xatracker, etc], please do separate builds.
Alternatively, based on popular demand, I can add a configure toggle
so that we produce separate, non-megadriver, binaries in one go.

Thanks
Emil
