I should have mentioned:
Quick search suggests that LLVM 5.0 is available on:
 - Debian (testing/unstable)
 - Ubuntu (artful)
 - Arch
 - Gentoo

Of which only Arch has it as "default". Even Fedora 27 (due in a
couple of months) is shipping 4.0, seemingly.
The future is bright, but we're not there yet.

Thinking about it - I could add that as well to the commit message.
