The problem I had building on Windows XP I suspected as being that the command line was too long to ar. I just tried building on a Windows 7 box and my suspicion was confirmed.

Subject: Installing Mesa to support display of JOGL application on Windows Server

I am trying to install Mesa to support display of a JOGL application on Windows Server. Should the library be installed in the application directory or the jre directory?

I built Mesa 8.0.3 by cross compiling it on Linux. I used platform=windows machine=x86 osmesa mesagdi libgl-gdi as the scons arguments. I tried building on Windows XP using MinGW and I was getting error 1 from ar resulting in the libraries not being built. Which of the build targets should I be installing? Are there any supporting libraries that I need to install? Should I have built it with x86_64 rather than x86?

I also tried building it using cygwin, but scons was complaining of conflicts in the glsl SConscript
