[Mesa-users] Is it possible to have vsync with software rendering?

Thank you for the prompt response.

This seems really strange but I was fearing that was the answer. It
bugs me that now I can't accurately profile the performance
differences between software rendering and hardware accelerated
rendering (just testing batch processing can be misleading because
past a certain point performance doesn't matter, also the computer can
overheat, and also I can't profile power consumption.) Is there any
reason in particular that you can think of that it'd be difficult to
implement or is it just that you can't think of a reason off
hand. Does software rendering actually require the GLX extension on
the X server being used or is it purely implemented in terms of X?
I'm not sure that the raw X protocol actually gives a way to have any
vsync ability which is unfortunate but would make sense as X is
supposed to be network transparent. I wonder what the situation is
like with Mesa on Wayland?

Thank you,
Steven Stewart-Gallus
