[Mesa-users] Surfaceless mesa 20.3.X?

Hi list,

I would like to compile mesa for a surfaceless system (server, software rendering, no GPU). This was possible earlier with the „surfaceless“ platform.

The recent versions do not allow surfaceless as a platform option anymore. The build info which is listed for building osmesa (https://docs.mesa3d.org/osmesa.html <https://docs.mesa3d.org/osmesa.html>) does not list a platform, and in that case, wayland is required, which is not available on our server.

I could build osMesa with the x11 platform, but rendering does not work if there is no (remote) X connection (DISPLAY missing etc.).

What is the recommended approach now?
