[Mesa-users] Can't I build a static linked mesa?

Hi. I need a static building of mesa, so I used the "--enable-static" parameter. But when I run configure, I receive: "configure: error: Can't use static libraries for DRI drivers"

Can someone explain why that happens? Also, if there is a way around it. It doesn't need to be all Mesa, just -lGL that needs to be static. Thanks for your time.
