Yes - you need to do that mac trick - otherwise you won't be able to receiver 
any packaget after DHCP succeeds.
However - yes, this modem supports ndisdup, not emitting ndisstat unsolicited 
messages aniway.
You surely know that, using the windows-mode message, this device is handled by 
qmi_wwan.
