That's what it looks like to me too.  I wonder what the firmware
version is?  The only problems I usually have on connect the modem
crashing entirely, not just disconnecting.  Only other lame guess I
have is an antenna problem.

But given that it's a Sierra, I wonder if Nicolas could run the
following on the modem's AT port:

AT!ERR=0
AT!GCCLR
<reproduce the problem>
AT!ERR
AT!GCDUMP

That might tell us if it's a modem problem or a network problem.
