This means that some operators filter the Google DNS servers.  If you
are lucky, then they look at the udp port.  But some might simply null
route 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.  That's much easier...

So to be absolutely sure, test your connection using the assigned DNS
servers instead.  And repeat the test with an actual DNS query if you
don't get a ping reply.  The DNS servers might filter icmp echoes.
