I used libmbim 1.12.4 with the old stable and libmbim 1.14.0 with the
new stable release.

That may well be even though the modem is a different one.

As an aside, I thought about updating libmbim/libqmi/ModemManager
separately but had doubts about how well tested those combinations might
be and so opted for upgrading all at once.
