Thanks Germano; I updated the bugreport with some more information.

For background in the list, this modem seems to report ERROR to
AT+CPIN?, but it doesn't seem to be a HW problem as the same modem+SIM
work correctly on Windows.

I'm assuming there is some other AT command we can use to check for
the PIN status. Germano, maybe you can try to investigate that path?
E.g. sending the commands manually with minicom for example.
