... no IP address, no route; maybe I should take this issue with the NetworkManager people?

wasn't completed correctly in the NM side.

After the connection attempt, is the WWAN network interface configured

with an IP address (run "ip addr")? Is there a default route through

the WWAN interface (run "ip route")?
