That explains the issues I’m seeing. I am using the Linkwave PiloT board, that seems to work ok.

So I guess, you’d recommend using MBIM with the Sierra HL? Do you have any idea why ModemManager detects it as Generic?

  -------------------------
  Hardware | manufacturer: 'Generic'
           | model: 'MBIM [8087:0911]'
           | revision: 'M2M_7160_MBIM_CAT1_WW_01.1804.'
           | H/W revision: 'XMM7160_V1.2_MBIM_NAND_REV_4.5'
           | supported: 'gsm-umts, lte'
           | current: 'gsm-umts, lte'
           | equipment id: ‘xxx’

This is what I am seeing in the logs:

Mar 13 11:00:29 144d32b ModemManager[2688]: [1552474829.130316] (Sierra) [wwan0] filtered by vendor/product IDs
Mar 13 11:00:29 144d32b ModemManager[2688]: [1552474829.132989] (Sierra) [ttyACM0] filtered by vendor/product IDs
Mar 13 11:00:29 144d32b ModemManager[2688]: [1552474829.146082] (Sierra) [cdc-wdm0] filtered by vendor/product IDs

I guess, the VID:PID are not included in my version of ModemManager. Actually, looking at what’s advertised by the device, the VID:PID is 8087:0911 which conflicts with what’s documented (0807:0911). I’ll dig some more.

Best regards,
Sven
