I've seen people fall into this trap before. Not sure what would be the
best way to address that, but perhaps something like this could help:

Adds "sw disabled" in red to nmcli output as in:

  ttyUSB2: unavailable
          "D-Link System 8 Series/C220 Chipset xHCI"
          gsm (option1), sw disabled, hw
