Feature freeze for 1.18

Hey all,

Please let's consider git master frozen for new features until we have
released 1.18, which should happen sometime in the next 2 months
hopefully.

I don't have much free time to maintain the project, so I'd like to
make sure all the new features coming in 1.18 are stable enough to be
released.

Merge requests for new features can be suggested in gitlab, but they
will most likely be unreviewed until that time, unless someone wants
to do that!
