As discussed in IRC, I've done the following:

-Updated the kernel per the instructions at
http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/InstallDRM
-Updated the libdrm and xf86-video-nouveau per the instructions at
http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/InstallNouveau
