#29714 has indeed the very same symptoms as this. Also, I've seen similar and
repeated messages of "unplugged DisplayPort" and "plugged DisplayPort".

What happens when you try the attachment "EVO channel init modifications"? For
me it solved the garbled screen problem.
But unfortunately nouveau crashes so frequently that I had to revert to the
binary driver for now.
