I think it may actually be a good idea to go (in core/device.h):

  NVDEV_ENGINE_MPEG,
+ NVDEV_ENGINE_PPP = NVDEV_ENGINE_MPEG,
  NVDEV_ENGINE_ME,

PPP got introduced when MPEG disappeared.  There's likely a few other
engines we can create as aliases for each other too.  What do you think?
