Hi Ilia,
thanks for your feedback. Upgrading my distribution is not an option and since
it's based on Debian Squeeze (which is oldstable now), I really don't think
that filing a bug with it will to lead to anywhere.

On the other hand, I may try a recent live distribution with a recent enough
kernel version to see if the behaviour is the same. In case, which distribution
would you recommend?
