Well, with my MCP89 on 3.8.x, I still get:

trapped read at 0x000040fdd0 on channel 0x0000fee0 BAR/PFIFO_READ/FB reason:
VRAM_LIMIT

On 3.9-rc4 it's even worse: complete screen corruption and hard lock.

Is mine a different bug?
