Kernel_log

Since Kernel 3.13.x the fan speed of my NVIDIA GeForce GTS240 is much too high.

Output from sensors:
...
nouveau-pci-0100
Adapter: PCI adapter
fan1: 6693 RPM
temp1: +69.0°C (high = +95.0°C, hyst = +3.0°C)
                       (crit = +105.0°C, hyst = +5.0°C)
                       (emerg = +135.0°C, hyst = +5.0°C)
...

With any kernel version below, i.e. Kernel 3.12.9 everything is fine. Fan speed
around 5000 RPM.

First I thought it could be related to
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71711 but Guenter Roeck recommended
to open a bug report against Nouveau:

" ... Looks like Nouveau fan control does not work. No idea what may be causing
this ...
well, possibly. There are two suspicious commits between 3.12 and 3.13.
Maybe the "remove everything" commit has undesirable side effects.

eec9901 drm/nouveau/hwmon: fix compilation without CONFIG_HWMON
b9ed919 drm/nouveau/drm/pm: remove everything except the hwmon interfaces to
THERM
..."

Thank you,
Roman
