About xtrace, for poma:

You need to modify "greeter-wrapper" script to run xtrace. Default path for
ubuntu: /usr/lib/lightdm/lightdm-greeter-session

Replace launching command:
    exec $@ &
with xtrace command:
    exec xtrace -b -o /tmp/xtrace.log $@ &
