OK, so there's no crash. It just doesn't work. Can you switch back from it?
e.g. xrandr -s 720x400; sleep 5; xrandr -s 2880x1800
does that come back? Or is it stuck forever? If it's stuck, could you see if
there's anything in the kernel logs?</pre>
