Thank you for the strace! - it is too big so I won't pass it to the ML, but I
got it privately.  The result is that it has nothing to do with the OSL_PIPE;
but not yet sure what is the real problem.

Now it is apparent that there is a crash between SetSplashScreenProgress(40)
and SetSplashScreenProgress(50) in desktop/source/app/app.cxx, but no further
clue where exactly.

Fridrich, could you please provide Enrico with libsofficeapp.so that is
created after you add #define TIMELOG as the first thing in
desktop/source/app/app.cxx ? That should make the
RTL_LOGFILE_CONTEXT_TRACE() output at least something :-)

Enrico, when you get the file from Fridrich, please copy it
to /opt/openoffice.org/basis3.1/program/ [backup the old libsofficeapp.so
first ;-)], do

  export RTL_LOGFILE=~/test

ensure that no OOo instance is running, and run it. After it crashes, please
send us any ~/test_*.log that was created.

Thank you,
Kendy
