Having trouble understanding what you mean here.

You are stating that the driver will continue to work on VX855 (with
mode setting in userspace, as it is currently)?

I gathered that much. My question is whether KMS will become available
on VX855/Chrome9. It will solve a handful of headaches for OLPC.
