Yes, but that is a fact of life: there is so much crappy and deficient hardware
out there -- not having an EDID, not responding to any kind of polling, simply
undetectable.  /But/... they work perfectly well when fed with the right input.

So, defaulting to VGA when nothing can be detected would be nice.  And allowing
the user to override this with an xorg.conf option telling the driver that
there /is/ a VGA/DVI/XXX device connected even if it can't be detected, would
be even better.  Detection is beautiful, but it simply won't work for all
devices.
