You are quite right that the topic of discussion related to this bug report has
been drifting towards areas not necessarily related to VX855 chipset.
I have been thinking of that for the past few days, and thank you very much for
bringing that up.
As for some comments I have made here, for many ordinary users of VIA IGP and
Linux (and BSD), only a new release of OpenChrome will solve their woes since
99% of users never will compile the device driver from source code.
I was explaining my intention of when I can release a new version of
OpenChrome, and with the several commits I made today, I think it is in a good
enough condition to be released since I resolved the lingering issue of how to
detect a flat panel automatically.
As for the original reporter who reported the bug (Christopher), he has been
having storage related issues (that is my take on it), but I have independently
confirmed that VGA signal coming out of DVI to VGA adapter is now working with
my own Wyse C00X thin client using Puppy Linux 5.7.1.
It was an I2C related issue of the newer generation code (Version 0.3.x code
base) that was the problem.
DVI coming out of Wyse C00X may or may not be working, but if someone wants to
file a bug report regarding this, please do so.
So, for the sake of keeping the discussion related primarily to the bug that
was originally reported, I will close this bug.
For people who reported problems with VX900 chipset, please file a new bug
report when I release OpenChrome Version 0.4.0, hopefully in the next few days
or weeks.
