The latest version of X.Org Server I am still using it 1.18.4 or something
similar to that (Xubuntu 16.04.2).
Since I am using what Canonical calls HWE (Hardware Enablement) version, I
should eventually be on X.Org Server 1.19 eventually.
When I get to X.Org Server 1.19, I am sure I will encounter the issue.
My guess is there will likely be a fix for this down the road, but not until
Xubuntu 16.04.3 is released.

drm-openchrome is still very buggy, and I do not really have a schedule of when
it will become mainlined.
