Ok, I've finally got a good setup now, I took apart another system for its
power supply to get the VX900 going.

This NEC theatersync is kind of interesting.

Knoppix 8.1 works, Knoppix 8.2 works, but debian 9.3 with latest openchrome git
0.6.175 doesn't work.

[ 1119.513] compiled for 1.19.2, module version = 0.6.175

It gets a good EDID, and tries to do 1280x1024

[ 1238.722] (II) CHROME(0): IGA1 Requested Screen Mode: 1280x1024
[ 1238.722] (II) CHROME(0): IGA1 CrtcHTotal: 1728
[ 1238.722] (II) CHROME(0): IGA1 CrtcHDisplay: 1280
[ 1238.722] (II) CHROME(0): IGA1 CrtcHBlankStart: 1280
[ 1238.722] (II) CHROME(0): IGA1 CrtcHBlankEnd: 1728
[ 1238.722] (II) CHROME(0): IGA1 CrtcHSyncStart: 1344
[ 1238.722] (II) CHROME(0): IGA1 CrtcHSyncEnd: 1504
[ 1238.722] (II) CHROME(0): IGA1 CrtcVTotal: 1072
[ 1238.722] (II) CHROME(0): IGA1 CrtcVDisplay: 1024
[ 1238.722] (II) CHROME(0): IGA1 CrtcVBlankStart: 1024
[ 1238.722] (II) CHROME(0): IGA1 CrtcVBlankEnd: 1072
[ 1238.722] (II) CHROME(0): IGA1 CrtcVSyncStart: 1025

But what's weird is if I run via_dump_regs it will say that it's 1280x768.

chvt 7; sleep 2; sudo tools/via_regs_dump -p; chvt 2

But the NEC Theatersync hates the signal and displays a blue screen. I don't
know whether to believe the frequencies that it reports since it matches what
it says for the text screen.

With regards to the Sansui SLED2900 that doesn't work with EDID at all (I'm
going to try a new cable today), if the driver doesn't detect a VGA output it
won't display anything at all. Once it came up with a no signal I switched the
cable to the NEC Theatersync and it said no signal at all so it must not be
generating a signal.
