What's wacky to me is that I can get a perfectly visible display out of grub at
boot time at 1024x768 on the Dell.  

I wonder if it would be possible to dump the registers when it's displaying a
VESA mode.



I would be happy to send you this board if that would be easier to figure out. 
You can keep it if you like and add it to your stable of test hardware.

I've got plenty of other hardware.  I just wanted to see how this little board
would run mame under linux.
