Just a note: most of the code comes originally from VIA, from their engineers. It was open-sourced probably somewhere in 2003. Early in 2004 the Unichrome project picked it up and fixed many bugs, mainly done by Luc Verhaegen and Thomas Hellström. That commit history was not preserved when things moved to openchrome in 2005. Since then some code was written by Ivor Hewitt, Jon Nettleton, Bartosz Kosiorek, and James Simmons. But to blame any of these openchrome developers for the state of the code would be... unfair.
