Luc is always right. However... the first (quoted) remark in that post from
Alan Cox says it all: "So your code causes reversions and loss of support for
end users."
Yes, Luc makes better code, but in the process he (temporarily) breaks things
for some use cases, and for many people that is a no-no-no. Yes, it's very
annoying to have to 1) keep everything working and 2) improve things. It's
much nicer to throw away all crap and cruft, and build the needed things
afresh. But... until you're done, some users are left out in the cold.
However, since things seem to have degenerated since 0.2.904, please go ahead,
do as you see fit. (But please use git branching, don't revert commits, the
master branch can be left perfectly well intact.)</pre>
