One TV in particular I remember would overscan a 1920x1080 signal which to me made no sense at all. So I was able to "defeat" the overscan by using a custom resolution of 1920x1079 <a href="http://ptouchman.blogspot.com/2017/04/fixing-hdmi-overscan-at-1920x1080-on.html">http://ptouchman.blogspot.com/2017/04/fixing-hdmi-overscan-at-1920x1080-on.html</a> You might be able to find a universal remote that sets the aspect ratio, the logitech harmony has a huge database. Or buy a replacement remote on ebay (it's nice to have the exact remote) Sometimes the cost on ebay is high though.
