After the suggested change to the Myth source the behavior is very interesting.

The screen is covered with thin blue and green lines, not just the Myth window but the entire screen, line of garbage all over the place.  My X log still has similar errors in it, I've included them below.

The lines happen if I have DisableIRQ set to true in my xorg.conf.  If I comment it out the lines don't appear although Myth gives me a X BadAlloc error Major 140 Minor 8 ResourceID 0xe00016 and the PC becomes almost unresponsive.

With DisableIRQ on, I get the funny lines although the box remains responsive with garbage on the screen afterI close Myth.

All very strange. It seems Myth has a different Timing method as well based on the IRQ setting, DRM if it's commented out and USleep if it's on.  

All in all, I can create a variety of errors and cause the PC to respond differnetly although no video to date. The ViaXvmc Create Surface error is gone but it seems to have exposed a number of other strange things.

Any thoughts great minds?
