I emerged xf86-video-via. The messages from this version and the openchrome version differs in the Xorg.0.log but don't indicate any error. In both cases Xorg.0.log reports success in enabling dri, so the xorg.conf shouldn't be wrong. But also in both cases there is no dri with glxinfo.
