[Openchrome-users] Hardware acceleration making things slower?

Hi,
While testing a lot of stuff about performance with and without hardware
acceleration on CLE266 on my Debian testing machine with Xorg 6.9, I
found a stunning thing: I made a Java program that is slower when I use
the 'via' driver than when I use the 'fbdev' driver. Slower meaning: X
takes more CPU with the 'via' driver than with the 'fbdev' driver and
the CPU load from java itself remains the same.
Is this possible, or must I be doing something wrong?
