[Openchrome-users] xvmc vs. xv mplayer

I want to use the XvMC video output device on my Via SP13000 with MPlayer.
Currently, playing a divx or xvid with mplayer results in about 20% cpu
usage. This is while using the xv video output device on xorg 6.9.
Is using XvMC going to approve it?
I hope so, currently a h264 encoded movie inside a Matroska container is
a very tough nut to crack.

There is a patch from December on the website, but it cannot be fully
applied with the current version of Mplayer(MPlayer v1.0pre7try2).
I'm sure it worked like a charm with an older version of Mplayer, but I
don't know which one that would have been.

I've seen posts on the internet advising people to go for Xine, but
since I am going to use mythtv, I don't think dropping Mplayer for Xine
is an option.
