I believe the wag's definition for "pioneer" is
"someone with an arrow in their back." Well, call me a
pioneer. I am interested in building a computer built
on the A8V-VM motherboard for use as a Web browser /
general purpose machine, and I'm willing to sweat a
bit to bring it up.... the computer has a 16x PCI-e
slot, so I can switch to something else if needed.
Initial Web searches tell me that support for the
VT8251 southbridge will require the 2.6.15 kernel with
some patches. I gather that the OpenChrome drivers
will require X11 6.9 or 7.0 and additional patches.
Has anybody else tried a motherboard based on the
K8M890, or an A8V-VM? Any comments?
