the reverse actually. VIA is using a non standard extension to XvMC know 
as VLD XvMC. In xine, the video output xvmc outputs to XvMC capable 
hardware. xxmc is an extension to this video output and is also capable 
of using VLD XvMC as well as standard XvMC.
So in your case, 'xine -V xxmc' is the way to go.

There seems to be at least 2 revisions of the VN800 chipset. One has xv 
and xvmc working, the other hasn't. http://www.openchrome.org/trac/ticket/40

May be you can try to use 'xine -V xv' as well as '-V xshm' and see how 
it goes. If xshm is ok but xv is not, then it's probably the same bug.
