[Openchrome-users] xvmc works but not remote

The xvmc patch is a great addition to mplayer, dumbing down the cpu
effort to play mpeg2. ( I wonder whether it is an option to let the
mplayer people maintain version synchronicity)

When I try to use it over an NX channel, I get the error message that it
cannot connect to X's 0:0 display. The reason is obvious, but can it be
helped? Can the xvmc be made to handle remote displays?

If not, no worries, but I am interested to see how well my via board can
stream mpeg2 across an internal 100mbit network. Currently, streaming
mpeg4 with xv over NX is possible, but with too much framedrop to be
really enjoyable. The cpu is the bottleneck sofar.
